'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith continues contest with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he remembers the dramatic closing stages of his team's stunning fightback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The encounter ended with Galbraith briefly donning a spectator's eyewear following the on-field celebration.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith struck the post with a powerful effort from 25 yards, and the defender quickly converted the rebound before sprinting toward the East Stand to celebrate, with supporters mobbing the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The result capped an extraordinary turnaround given Swansea had trailed 2-0 deep into the second half. Amid the celebrations, there was some minor mishaps. He shared, "There was a fan sort of calling out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're people, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

That win booked a fourth-round fixture at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a team Galbraith pushed hard at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with the London side in February. Galbraith had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in remarkable manner, with the attacker's long-range effort from about 45 yards going in via the woodwork and the opposition keeper. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've awarded it to him for taking the effort on from that distance," commented Galbraith, who began the game centrally before shifting to right defensive wing after the team changed shape. That meant getting to grips with the England international, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the winger was among the opposition who paid tribute to the way his former team played positively.

Guardiola's System

"Physically they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and routine actions, they can just perform consistently," he explains. "It appears that they never miss a pass and they are adept at dictate and take the sting out of a game. You can think you're doing well and then without warning they will just thread a ball through a line without you even spotting it. You have to be alert at all times of the game. It demands a tough attitude and focus just to keep pace."

Swansea Move

The Welsh side pushed to sign Galbraith in January and beat off competition to sign him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He made a name as a crowd pleaser across a couple of years at Orient and has quickly replicated that in his new home. At his previous team he linked up again with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in senior football on loan at a League One side from Old Trafford. Then came a temporary move at lower division Salford, before he departed Manchester United.

Growth Journey

"I was probably a slightly green going into professional soccer. I think numerous professionals would say development squad matches is entirely separate. Sometimes it appears the ball is moved without real physicality. There's not many tackles or duels. Once you start playing men's games you have to learn quickly."

National Team Success

His progress reflects that growth for both domestically and internationally, shining for his national side, who are fighting to qualify for the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including two matches encounters against Germany. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's previous international manager, paid him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he controls possession and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Starting Out

It has been an incredible journey for the youngster from the Queens Park estate in Glengormley, just outside the capital, who was raised observing his parent, his father, also a engine room operator, play for his father's team.

Manchester United Experience

His single match for United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they played on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was shut owing to the weather of freezing cold. "This represented a long trip and it was freezing," he comments, chuckling. "The week before, several youth players and I practiced as a group, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to accompany the senior squad and earn some playing time at the end was incredible."

Leaving United

How hard was it to leave United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged 16? "The decision proved relatively straightforward, because I reached the point where I realized I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm very appreciative for the experience gained but it got to the point where I felt I required a fresh start, move to a lower level and play professional soccer. Now I'm slowly progressing again."

Welsh Adaptation

It is the middle of the day at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has an appointment at the early evening: a driving theory test, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Prior to relocating to his new neighborhood, the 24-year-old was a regular in Swansea's nicknamed team minibus, a minibus driven by academy staff, Pete and Howard, which shuttles players to and from practice and games.

"My companions include Gonçalo Franco, Ronald, Malick Yalcouyé – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's enjoyable to interact with the teammates but I'm aiming to be the subsequent individual to drive independently and behind the wheel. Franco is known for his humor; he's constantly causing mischief."

Supporter Connections

During his time at Orient, Galbraith would mix with fans on London's Central line after commuting at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
